Amon Cosplay by ShaggyGriffon Amon Cosplay by ShaggyGriffon
Finished my cosplay of Amon from Legend of Korra. First time making legit clothing for an outfit, as I have only ever done hoodies in the past.
The shin guards slip over a pair of suede boots i had laying around. The tunic in a velcro front entrance, then the panel/tabard thing velcros onto that with the sash/belt on the bottom and tied in the back.
The shoulderpads are velcroed onto the sleeves so that i may change them in the future when i learn to form plastic without molds.
The mask is made of resin, the same resin i use for my mask blanks and hand painted.
I am very proud of this cosplay, and catch him equalizing everyone at Otakon :3

2 dumb questions ; - ; ... Did you use a pattern to sew the tunic and how did you keep the shoulder armors attached? I'm planning on being Amon for a detour, and I want to know. thanks !

Oh and what did you use to make the mask?

:iconshaggygriffon:
i sculpted it from clay and made a mold then cast the final product in resin

What did you make the shoulder-pads and the arm-guards out of?
This is a really nice cosplay and everything is really well done. o:

thanks :) tbh the shoulderpads and kneepads are cardboard covered in modge podge and cheesecloth, same technique i used for my deathwing quad's armor. I have to fix the shinguards so i am going to remake the knee and shoulder pads via foamies and the glue+cloth method, since after really studying other takes of amon, his shoulderpads really are circular rather than squarish. thank you for the compliment :) i cant wait to run around equalizing people at the photoshoot

Cheesecloth? That's a new one: most people I have asked have used pleather or actual leather. Will definitely have to try that out though. I'm thinking of making my own Amon cosplay, though I have no idea when or where I could use one, hehe. And I'm still stuck on the shirt, but the velcro idea was great!
As for a more rounded shoulder-gaurd you can try this [link] or even one that uses cardboard instead of tinfoil. I used the tinfoil one for some gauntlets and it worked out really well.
And what Con are you planning to go to if you don't mind me asking. c:

yah the cheesecloth makes a criss-cross pattern that shines from the modge podge gloss and looks like armor, plus it dries hard and is extremly durable

i came up with a pattern and im already half done with the new shoulderpads, they just need to dry overnight before i can paint and seal them :)

Otakon ahoy for me in 3 weeks
